Town of Bow Mar - Community Safety Concern
Dear Neighbors,
Last evening, our community experienced another troubling incident at the intersection of Prospect and Wagon Trail. A vehicle traveling northbound on Prospect lost control and crashed at the bottom of the hill. Thankfully, the impact was with a tree and not a child riding a bike or playing nearby. This marks the second serious accident at this location over the last several months, and it follows other recent incidents, including a crash into the Belleview entry wall along with the Sheridan entry wall.
We are a community of families. We do not have sidewalks. And since our last traffic survey in 2019, cut through traffic has increased significantly, bringing with it real safety concerns for our residents.
This past Monday, our town trustees continued their work toward a long-term solution. At the same meeting, I laid out an expedited timeline to ensure we move swiftly and decisively. In light of last night’s crash, that urgency is more critical than ever.
During this interim period, I have asked for the temporary closure of Prospect leading to Wagon Trail from the Belleview Circle. Only the right hand turn off the circle would be affected by this temporary closure.
To the residents directly impacted again last night, many of whom I saw while I was onsite, I saw firsthand your concern, and I share your concern. Let this serve as a powerful reminder to everyone in our community that the problem is real, and the time to act is now.
You have my full commitment to push for meaningful, effective solutions that restore peace of mind. The goal is simple: a safer environment for our children, our families, and everyone who calls this town home.
Sincerely,
Bryan Sperry
Mayor
